The Cradle of Humankind - Maropeng
The Site lies mainly in the Gauteng province with a small extension into the neighboring North-West province, and covers 47 000 hectares of land mostly privately owned. The Cradle of Humankind Site comprises a strip of a dozen dolomitic limestone caves containing the fossillised remains of ancient forms of animals, plants and most importantly, hominids. The dolomite in which the caves formed, started out as coral reefs growing in a worm shallow sea about 2.3 billion years ago.

The Sterkfontein and Wonder Caves
The Sterkfontein Caves are located within the Isaac Edwin Stegmann Reserve about 10km from Krugersdorp. These caves were donated to the University of Witwatersrand by the Stegmann family. A section of the caves is open to the public, and there is a gravel platform from which the public can view the excavation site. Other facilities include a tea-room and small museum in which information about significant findings are on display.

The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve
The reserve was founded in 1985, with the aim of preserving the scenic area for private leisure. From a modest beginning of 2 White Rhinos, 'Ouvrous'and 'Bulle', imported from a zoo in Germany, and some antelope species, the reserve now boasts 600 head of game representing 25 different species. |

The Krugersdorp Game Reserve
The habitat is mainly grassveld with small dams and reedbeds at the northern-most end. The vast areas of open grassland in the reserve provide the visitor the opportunity to observe many of the grassland species of Gauteng.

The Crocodile Ramble Route
The Crocodile Ramble includes The Ramble in the Cradle of Humankind & The Ramble around the Hartbeespoort Dam. Here you will find a variety of interesting products and services, ranging from restaurants, arts & crafts to conference centres and nurseries. You can also opt for picnic, nature reserves, bird walks, 4x4 trails, hiking and horse trails or a heritage tour.

Eagle Canyon Golf Estate
This is a top standard 18 hole golf course with a driving range which was constructed in an old sand quarry. The course plays along the Canyon cliffs, along and over water with a clubhouse perched on the highest point with a full view of all 18 holes - possibly a world first.

Sandton Convention Centre
There is over 22,000mē of convention, exhibition and special event space. The Pavilion can seat 4,500 patrons. The Ballroom can seat 2,000 banquet guests and the 13 other meeting rooms can accommodate up to 350 delegates. The two exhibition levels have a combined floor space of 11,000mē.
